Concept for hemp building for Arizona Child Development Center, Chandler, Arizona

HITA x Child Development Center: Building the First U.S. Elementary School BUILT WITH Hemp

HITA is proud to announce its first H.E.M.P. initiative—a groundbreaking partnership to construct the first hemp-based elementary school in the United States.

A Model for the Future
The school will showcase hempcrete and other industrial hemp materials, proving the viability of hemp as a safe, durable, and energy-efficient building solution for public schools, government buildings, and beyond. The project also aims to raise awareness about water conservation, sustainable agriculture, and the role of hemp as a rotational crop for Arizona farmers.

Join the Movement
We are actively seeking donations, materials, and industry partners—including suppliers of hempcrete, biomass, textiles, and everyday hemp-based products like paper, straws, and insulation. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to showcase the full potential of hemp in real-world applications.

A Documentary in the Making
Industry-leading HITA members WulfenBear Media will be documenting this groundbreaking journey to elevate hemp’s role in sustainable construction.
